Questions people ask
Which of these work on a baby onesie?
Anything light and small. The dachshund at 1,800 to 5,600 stitches, the 4x4 designs from the baby bundles and the applique set are all safe on knit fabric. Skip the 20,000+ stitch designs on stretchy clothing — use those on woven cotton, towels or a framed hoop.
What do I need for knit fabric?
A cut-away stabilizer, not tear-away, and a topping if the fabric has any pile. Hoop the stabilizer and float the garment if the piece is too small to hoop properly.
How long does a design take?
A home machine runs roughly 600 to 800 stitches a minute. So 6,000 stitches is about ten minutes, and the Highland Cow at 77,257 is closer to an hour and a half plus thread changes.
Which file format do I need?
Brother and Babylock use PES, Janome uses JEF, Tajima and most commercial machines use DST, Husqvarna Viking and Pfaff use HUS and VP3. Everything on this page ships with all of them.
